Got this towel along with manduka’s black mat. I practice ashtanga vinyasa, and I’ve had a problem with towels moving, sticking or otherwise being a distraction during vinyasas and the primary series movements. Not so with this towel! It’s soft on top, and it holds to the mat without sticking to me. And since it’s microfiber, it rolls into a tight package for carrying around. No more bulky towel or rug to lug around!
Definitely glad I got it, and I will get another or two to cycle through the practice.

I use this towel folded as a prop during yoga class, as a covering during savasana, as my office yoga mat (for some mid-afternoon stretching and meditation) instead of a regular mat and it can even be used like a regular towel!

I had wanted one of these for my yoga practice for a long time. There is a trick to using them and you need to get them slightly wet as you may know before you can get some traction and stop slipping. It is ideal for about 30 minutes into a yoga class, and it takes you through the rest of your practice and provides a best layer over the mat surface. I hardly remember to wash it in between classes, so there is one draw. It is not as ready to go as your mat so wash it right away. I put it through gentle cycle, and expect the high quality of Manduka to last a long time. It is ideal if you practice Ashtanga, and highly popular with Ashtanga practitioners, but it works great for vinyasa flow classes too. Love this and all Manduka products!

I was unsure whether to buy this towel or the one from Yogitoes (Yogitoes Skidless Premium Mat-Size Yoga Towel). I prefer this towel — it covers the mat better and has a slightly better feel. The difference is fairly small.
I was initially intrigued by the nubs on the Yogitoes towel, but I think they are a little bumpy and don’t provide that much extra. The size of the towel makes the difference between the two.
Both towels are better wet than dry, but I still use this even at the beginning of my practice.

I bought this product because my favorite yoga towels by Luminaire are no longer available. Imagine my surprise when this was slightly bigger, ‘fluffier’, more absorbent and just as lightweight and easy to care for as my old ones. Bonus!! I LOVE these towels. I do Bikram Yoga. They stick to my mat, absorb like there is no tomorrow, and stand up to regular washing. A perfect yoga towel.

I know this towel is not cheap, but it is very high quality and matches my 71-inch BlackMatPRO perfectly. It is ideal for those hot yoga sessions and provides good grip even when I’m sweaty. It also has a very comfortable feel about it. Before this towel, when I was really sweaty I had to grab the sides of my mat to stop from slipping. Now, this towel holds me in place. I highly recommend this towel!

I just started practicing Bikram yoga (i.e. hot yoga, average temp in the studio I attend is 110 degrees, it’s a 90 minute practice) and this towel is great. It rarely slips at all and drys really quick when I’m done. Everyone else has the yogito towel as well, I used one in my first session at the studio (before I had a towel of my own) and a traditional bath towel. This is way better than the traditional towel (of course) and on par with the yogitoes towel. I wouldn’t spend twice as much for the nubs. In fact I’ll be ordering 1 – 2 more of these towels so I don’t have to do so much laundry. Note – I haven’t tried this with traditional yoga, in a normal temperature room, just in the hot yoga class and it works great. No need to wet beforehand in my experience (though it gets wet pretty quickly during the class).

I love this towel. It’s very well made and it perfectly fits over my Manduka travel yoga mat. I have found that it makes certain vinyasas much smoother. It does need to be a little damp to be completely non-slip, though. So I counterintuitively wet my hands at the beginning of practice.

I just used the towel for the first time this morning, during the seated primary series. (Well, the parts of it that I can manage!) I haven’t tried it for the standing asanas, since I don’t sweat too much then. It feels great against my skin, sticks to the mat, and handles sweat well: my toes didn’t slip during janu sirasana B, and the towel didn’t bunch at all during vinyasas. Felt great during headstand, too.
My mat’s on the older side and showing some wear, but hopefully this will prolong its life in addition to making my practice a little more enjoyable.

After slipping and sliding on towels during rigorous vinyasa classes and home practice on my Jade Harmony mat – to the point where I had to constantly reposition 4 mini hand towels to my hands and feet in downward dog, to no avail – I finally caved in and bought one of these towel dealies. I went back and forth between all the options on Amazon – the Gaiam, Kulae, Yogitoes, Manduka…and in the end, decided to go for the Manduka because of reviews (noted people mentioning “quick air-drying” and no color leaking during washes) and the fact that it is significantly cheaper on Amazon than any of the yoga stores I’ve visited.
If you’ve been debating getting a towel for your yoga practice – and you’re a serious yogi who can sweat a ton in classes – put it off no longer. This towel is fantastic. I can’t say enough great things about it – it stays put, it’s big, covers the whole mat, soaks up your sweat so there’s no puddles of wet on your mat (yech), and is indeed quickly air drying. It’s comfy and adds an extra layer of cushion between you and the floor (although not too much cushion for those who like to “feel” the floor) It didn’t slide once during an extremely sweaty class (seriously, everyone else without yoga towels had gross puddles of sweat streaming all over the floor and mat – ew). The color and feel is soothing and even luxurious. The only possible semi-negative thing is that this towel seems to emit heat when you are lying face down (ie preparing for salambasana or locust/bow pose); it seems to echo/radiate your body heat. This to me was a very teeny trade-off for the many pluses and benefits, since I’m hot anyway regardless of whether there’s a towel or not.
It also doesn’t seem to soak up smell, so a simple water rinse and squeeze gets it pretty dry for next class. However, I have not washed it several times so cannot comment on its durability or continued sweat-soak ability. Will post later as an update.
You can put this on your mat in the beginning or once you get sweaty – either way, it seems to stick. A wonderful buy at a really good price on Amazon. couldn’t be happier with my manduka towel!
